This is the twenty-fourth James Bond movie. There is not much to relate it to the Middle Ages, except that near the end of the film James Bond goes to his childhood home in Scotland and we see that it is a manor house, like a small castle, which might have been build during the Middle Ages, but was more probably built during the early modern period.

In one way, the James Bond film series is like a medieval cathedral. During the Middle Ages, cathedrals took generations to build, so one master builder would be replaced by another, and the work would go on to completion, with no one individual claiming credit for the whole. In a similar way, six actors have played the part of James Bond, and also several actors have played M, and Q, and Miss MoneyPenny. No one individual can claim all of the credit; it is a long-term affaire.
